finally completed my effective communication essay and topic is " marriage is a click away" and i am supposed to write a blog review on it(= so i decides to post on my blog! hahah! please pardon my poor english.hoho. here it goes:

Today was another long day in school with many lectures and tutorials from 8am in the morning until 4pm in the late afternoon. While I was in the train on the way home from school, an article in the newspapers caught my attention and it says that more Singaporeans are turning to the web to find their life partners and matches are virtually made online. It is rather disappointing to see that more people are treating marriage very lightly and the traditional belief that marriages are made in heaven no longer holds true today.

To me, marriage is a very important thing in life and it marks a new beginning of two individuals who come together for the formation of a new family, procreation, legitimizing sexual relations and most importantly is to declare their love for each other to the public. However, there are an increasing number of people who abandon traditional means of finding a soul mate and look for one using cyberspace instead.

I find it unbelievable that people these days could literally find a soul mate based on their profiles, contact numbers, photographs and horoscopes as stated on the internet, and getting together without knowing each other well. Then it results in high divorce rates at the end of the day as both parties realized that they did not understand and knowing each other well and both ended up emotionally hurt by their recklessness and treating of marriage so lightly.

As one says their pledge to their soul mate, “to promise to stand beside you through thick and thin, through good and bad, through joy and sorrow” they should really meant it and not going through marriage with a person whom you barely knows and understands and treating marriage like a contract that can be signed easily and terminate whenever both decides to. This shows how irresponsible the society is getting to show their regards on marriage.

Therefore I find that marriage should not be just a click away and that people should realize the importance of marriages. This is plainly my views to show how disturbed I was upon reading the article that people are treating marriage like a game. Anyway, today been a rather long day and I am going to end here and prepare for school tomorrow. Goodnight all.
